Would someone tell me what's so great about the Kindle Fire HD?

I can get library books on my Iphone but not the Kindle.It seems like I have to pay to get anything on this tablet. I am looking for any reason to keep it.

It also seems to lock up on me a lot, am I spoiled by having great internet speeds on my computers? Can someone give me pointers? Why do you love yours?

How to stop network devices from using all the bandwidth?

I recently got AT&T U-verse, which gave me a download speed of around 400 kb/s on my computer. The other devices in my house, a Kindle and a laptop, could download (at the same rate, I assume) without causing me any lag whatsoever. However, I'm now getting over 1 mb/s download speed, as are the other devices. Because downloading now consumes the full potential of the bandwidth, any device that downloads steals the bandwidth from all others, making it virtually impossible to use the internet on more than one device simultaneously. How can I cap the bandwidth (back at 400 kb/s) for all the devices so that the internet can be shared evenly?

Seeing as I have a kindle, and am a teen, I burn through books very quickly, and as such, have run out of books that hold my interest and that are worth buying.

Should I buy one?

There are times I'm laying in bed but it's a hassle to use a laptop.It's good to use my phone but my phone isn't big enough. I feel like I'd be better off buying a bigger cell phone like a Samsung Galaxy.

There is a lot I can do with the Kindle though. Possibly buying books would be a better experience and wouldn't need to lug around books.

There are times I think maybe I'll go to the bookstore but then I need to drive out of my way and it takes a long time to get a book. Maybe even a good magazine that I wouldn't consider going out of my way to buy but if I had the Kindle maybe I would get a book or magazine.

I could buy all my textbooks on there but I don't know if I'd prefer to do that instead of buying textbooks.

It would be significantly lighter for sure. I do have Amazon Prime too so I think there are some free benefits like videos and books that I can use.

I'm trying to decide if this would be a worthwhile investment. Hmmm… what do you think?

Transferring books via USB from computer to Kindle?

I have a Kindle fire, the original one. I've been transferring books from my computer to my Kindle for a while, with no problems whatsoever. Recently, I've been having a lot of problems. All of my books are in the MOBI format, so that's not the problem. I've even tried putting them PDF format, seeing if maybe it will accept that format, but still no luck. The books are not showing up on the Kindle at all. I don't understand how it was working fine before, but now not at all. Maybe someone else has had this problem and found a solution, or anyone knows how I can go about fixing this problem? All suggestions are greatly appreciated!

I have a First Generation Kindle Fire and a Google Nexus 7, the cable I have for my Google Nexus doesn't always work as the wiring on the inside of the cable isn't so great as it used to be (was from my old digital camera from a few years ago). I can still use the cable, but it's not exactly the best one to use.

I don't want to spend money on a new one right now, so would it be safe if I used the charger from my Kindle Fire until I do get a new charger? The Google Nexus wall charger (which needs the USB cable) provides 2 Amps while the Kindle Fire's charger provides 1.8 Amps. Both chargers give out 5 Volts.

As all do, my Kindle Fire HD has a camera. Sadly the camera usage is hidden. I figured out how to work the camera, though it wasn't very… HD.So I bought a camera app called "my camera". Its HD and I video taped some things with it and want to upload it onto my computer so I can post it on Facebook and Youtube. I pluged in the USB cord to my computer and opened up "computer" icon. There, under portable divices, was listed my Kindle as "Kindle portable media player". I dont want to upload things from my computer to my kindle. Stopping my pup from destroying everything?

I have an 11 month old bichon who has all her grown up teeth and an older dog to play with plus loads of toys that can be chewed, and has lots of walks and attention, but still she chews anything she can, when we go out she is not left on her own because she has the 4 year old to play with and they play for ages, her tally so far is 3 sky remotes, 2 chair legs, 1 pair 3d glasses, kindle case, 3 joy pads, numerous trainers and slippers all of which we thought had been put out of her reach if she is caught she is scolded and she slinks off tail between her legs so she knows its wrong, the oldest stopped when she got her big teeth, i have tried every product i could buy to no avail i love her to bits but im at my wits end, even if we are in the house with her if we leave the room she seems to find something short of putting her in a cage (i could not do that before its suggested) im at a loss anyone got any ideas i would really be gratefull

He acts great in person but sucks at texting!

So for about a month now I've been dating this guy, he is sweet and likes to hold my hand, cuddle, stare deep into my eyes, kiss me, and not try to push me to do anything, and calls me beautiful, everything is completely fine when we are face to face. But when we are apart he literally SUCKS at texting… communication in general. Right now he is phoneless and has to use a texting app on his Kindle, so that makes it even worse. He use to be great at talking through text (when he had a phone) and wasn't half bad when he first started using that texting app, but now we barely talk at all other than when we are hanging out.which is often but I have a tendancy to overthink everything.

I guess I just need reassurance that everything is okay, because I have past relationship issues that make it hard for me to over think. Sorry for all this rambling, but I'd rather ramble to you than bug him with multiple texts.which I feel is almost always a no no. Okay please give me some advice thx.

On my iPad 2, whilst looking up cheats for a game a new window opened, it said that my number had been entered and randomly picked out in the bath's mobile contest.It told me to claim my prize; a MacBook Air (out of stock), an amazon kindle touch (also out of stock), an iPhone 4S(out of stock) or an iPad 3 (2 in stock). Added (1). Thanks for answering Dan. Still no luck. When I must input a password to access our wifi, what password is it asking for? There is a security PIN number on the bottom of the router… that failed. Then we found a password called "Home group password"… that failed. We input the correct security type WPA2-PSK. Why is this thing so hard to connect to the router? Our two desk top computers were much easier. Here I have the screen up on the Kindle.It says the correct network identifier and signal strength excellent. Security WPA2 PSK. Password is blank. Which password is it looking for? One of the passwords we dealt with was a very long numerical one.It was very very long.is that the one?

I have an iPad and my daughter has the new kindle fire HD7 with a front facing camera.At first she was able to Skype me. She could see and hear me but I could not see her only hear her. Hey there. I've been trying to connect my Kindle to the internet using my WiFi system (Don't know what those things are called, and it's really my dad's.), but I can't get it to connect. Kindle app on PC not letting me view a downloaded book?

So I have a Kindle app on my PC. I downloaded a book from amazon and paid for it. The problem is that whenever I try to view the book, it'll show a white background and loading sign. But then it says: "TITLE NOT AVAILABLE This title is not available on Kindle for Windows 8" and automatically close the system. What should I do? My Kindle Fire charges weird.is this normal.?

I got a Kindle Fire for Christmas and when I try to charge it, it only charges when the screen is unlocked and lit.
Once the kindle locks, after non-activity for a few minutes, it locks up, but it stops charging too. Its annoying because I want it to have a full charge but I constantly have to check up on it to make sure the screen doesn't go away.

Also, if I'm playing a game or reading a book it also stops charging.So it only charges when the screen is lit but I'm not doing anything on it.

Hi All,

I'm thinking of writing a book. Nothing serious - more as a hobby, as writing is always something I've enjoyed doing.

If I ever finish it, I like to think I'd trying my hand at self publishing, probably via platforms like Amazon Kindle and Apple.

However, since I'd be responsible for all the legal side of my book, I have some concerns regarding copyright.

In my book, one of my characters say, "Real vampires don't sparkle," and "Think more Dracula than Edward Cullen." Also, "Why is life suddenly like I'm in a Harry Potter book?"

By saying these quotes in my book (which I'll obviously copyright under my own name) be breaking copyright of the other writings, such as JK Rowling and Stephanie Meyer?

For Christmas my husband got me a basic Toshiba laptop. He said it cost $300.
