I have finished a novel which is 85 pages long on Microsoft Word and plan on converting it to a kindle ebook format.

Is that too long to be an ebook?

If so, how many pages long are ebooks normally?

If I publish something on iBook or Kindle, can I obtain codes for free downloads I can give/sell?

I am just about ready to self-publish my first book on Kindle and iBooks. I've seen bookmarks and like items that have codes for a free download of the book. I did some searches but can't seem to find much in the way of how to obtain these. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas?

That is basically all I am looking for, and I think my best options are "Kindle Fire HD 7" or "NookHD+" (both costs are descent). Which one should I choose and why? Amazon Kindle: Does the synching between devices include the way you've organized your collections?

I had a Kindle, but when it died I started just using a Kindle App on my laptop. I've got lots of books downloaded, so when I buy a new Kindle when I import the content to the new device, will it also import the collections/folders? Or am I going to have to go through and do it one book at a time all over again?

Things to do while babysitting?!

Okay so they are an 11 and 9 year old boys and 6 and 4 year old girls. They all have kindles or iPods so little things won't entertain them. I did a scavenger hunt last time, so something else kind of like that. We aren't allowed outside when their parents aren't home. They're like if we did a puppet show they would make their puppets kill each other, that kind…

Can you get a book not available for a Kindle…on a Kindle?

Forgive me if this is a silly question, but I am just starting out in reading books and have recently got myself a Kindle device. I've noticed that not all books are available from Amazon for Kindle and was simply wondering if there is a way to get around that ; or is the only other way actually buying the book? I'm betting on it being buying the book, but, you never know:)

Exactly what information does a.gif file contain?

I'm trying to get my Kindle to display some of my photographs as screensavers when it goes into sleep mode. Currently when it goes into sleep mode it displays an ad as a screensaver, so I tried replacing some of them with my photos (I don't want to cheat Amazon out of their ad revenue, I'm leaving most of the ads alone). The screensavers were kept in separate folders on the device and were all titled "screensvr.gif", so I renamed my photo screensvr.gif and replaced the ad with it. Unsurprisingly, it didn't work and I got a screen saying "Please connect to wifi to download latest ads". I had wifi turned off when I did this, so the device had no communication with Amazon's servers. I tried altering the "Date Modified" property of my photo to match that of the ad, and that didn't work either. How does the system know the difference between one "screensvr.gif" and another "screensvr.gif", and how do I make them equivalent in the system's eyes?
Added (1). Yeah, I don't think I'd like the non-ad default screensavers any better. They don't have only one gif file, there's a different one for each ad, and I've verified that they all contain only one image. They're all 600x800, and I've converted my images to that width and height. What do you mean by "custom identifier"? I don't suppose it's anything I could hope to apply to my photos, is it?

How to convert eBooks with diacritics?

I have books in foreign language (Slovak) which has diacritics (š,č,ť,ľ,ž).

I'm Having a problem with converting PDB format files to mobi (or any other format readable by a Kindle device) properly. I used online converters but they aren't able to convert it correctly, as I always receive a question mark "?" instead of the diacritics mentioned above.

Does anybody know how to fix this? Some good Ebook converter software or some sort of a trick?

I've finished my first proper novel, sent it off to agents but got nothing. At some point I would like to try it again in the future but it takes a long time and I understand that. By this I don't mean downloading books onto your kindle that are already free, but is there any way that you can download books that would otherwise cost money onto your kindle? Like, are there any sites you can do this on?

How to transfer photos from Kindle Fire onto computer?

So stupidly, I never backed up my Kindle Fire and recently my Kindle turns on but doesn't boot and immediately turns back off (if you can help with this, i'd be glad too!) and apparently the Kindle Fire needs to be turned on to transfer stuff from it to the computer, so I was wondering if there was any way to "get around" this. I pulled off the back of the Kindle Fire and checked to see if there was an SD card so I could just remove it and use that, but there isn't and I didn't back anything up on a cloud or my computer or hard drive or anything…

Writing: Screenplays and Novels…(And Finishing them)?

My Name Is Spencer and two of the biggest life long goals of mine are this:

1) to write movies and Miniseries for TV and Film,
2) To Write a novel(s) - completed and published.

These have been the goals I've been longing for and trying with all my might. I wrote my first film, well dictated it, when I was 10 for a short film (which clocked in at 37 mins). I've been to a preforming arts school, where screenwriting rules was taught to me and college where (for a year and half - I left no need to get in to that) I wrote two shorts based on TV pilots I was writing at the time. As for novel on and off again I've tried to write one. I can write prose fiction (Prose fiction is an imaginary story, usually written down, that someone tells in everyday, natural language) and yet after a few pages (anywhere from one to thirty) I wear off. Thus I can not complete the novel, even though the basic stories I come up with and want to tell I feel for so deeply inside myself. I'd love to have them become a reality in bookstores and kindles all over the world, when I read books sometimes, it sadden me due to that realization that if some magic spell or something can't come along to help me find away to go on - novels never will reach people. It's the same with my screenplay writing, I write many stories - based upon many unique and moving concepts but none if not for two or three stories are completed - and even them I know need much editing in to smaller works in-order to be made.

I'm writing a (fiction) ebook about a tsunami. It is nearly finished and will be about 10,000 words. It's about the main character (Togago a tribes person from Papua new guinea) surviving the tsunami and helping out another boy (Eric) he finds as well. I was just wondering if you think it's a good idea and how much to charge. I was thinking about €.99-€1.99. I'd be publishing it on amazon kindle. My computer's wireless dongle has broken (yes, that's how old it is) and I am having to use my kindle fire for everything. I wish to upload a YouTube video, however when I used Bluetooth to transfer an mp4 file to my tablet YouTube did not recognize it as a video file, which basically ruins my chances of uploading any files from the kindle, as usually YouTube has no problems uploading mp4 files from my PC. My question: is there any way I could use my kindle fire hd as a Wi-Fi hotspot? If not, could you give me some helpful advice (not just buy a new computer) on how I should proceed? :D thank you

I'd like to go out and get a kindle and a tablet. I'm quite a slow reader and i'll just use the tablet for apps and browsing the internet, so neither have to be top of the range.
