I am searching for this book that I really like. It's about this girl who lives with her adoptive parents but she decides to leave them because the mom is pregnant. She goes to live with this man that they told the parents she was related to, but really isn't. He's a werewolf and showed that to her in a park. She has to go once a month to this log cabin for a weekend. The werewolf has her meet all of these other eligible werewolves because he says that she is special and rare. She eventually meets Clay. He is more wolf than man and doesn't talk like at all. She goes to college and lives in an apartment with this other girl. They try not to turn the heat on that much. Clay shows up at the house as a dog/wolf and they keep him. The main character soon finds out that he is Clay. Clay works at the garage. Eventually, she bites him on the neck in front of a whole bunch of people when it is normally done in private. Clay finally talks. If you know the book, please help me. In Mary Shelly's, Frankenstein, did the creature have a pre-existing life?

First, I will share with you 2 paragraphs in the book from which my question originates:

"IT is with considerable difficulty that I remember the original æra of my being: all the events of that period appear confused and indistinct. A strange multiplicity of sensations seized me, and I saw, felt, heard, and smelt, at the same time; and it was, indeed, a long time before I learned to distinguish between the operations of my various senses. Recall that the creature was formed from the parts of several (many?) persons. During one section, which I've quoted above, I'm having trouble analyzing because of my lack of knowledge into the Romantic period and Shelly's views- not to mention of friend of mine argues the opposite point. I'm curious what people here have to say. But first, allow me to exchange my ideas and thought processes with all of you.

My personal intuition is that the passage is a case of the creature reflecting on his creation in the lab (not a past life), using heavy symbolism and visual imagery to compare it to how a child might feel when born (Darkness, followed by light- dark and opaque bodies being doctors and nurses as they hover around a newborn and handle it).

Additionally, with the given time period, fancies of demons and spirits as agents of causation were beginning to end (and would be more prominent in the Victorian Era), and so I think Shelly's metaphysical views might be such that she would more quickly believe a new soul was created than an old one re-incarnated (speculation on my part). Of course, in a nature vs. Nurture argument one might argue that the creature did bad deeds because of having been sewn from criminal parts. But, I think it was his experiences after creation which led to his behavior rather than that from which he was made. This is supported by popular thought among Romantic period poets, which strongly believed in the personal experience of individuals having the greatest impact on one's actions.

The sound on my kindle fire hd is not working?

How to root my Kindle Fire? - 1

I have the original kindle fire and I'm trying to root it in order to get Android Jellybean. I downloaded the kindle fire utility, installed the android drivers for kindle, ran the utility, but then it got stuck.

Studying religions - sacred and/or significant texts?

I did not post this question for anyone to argue which religion is better or for any person to dismiss any religion as unworthy of study. This request for information is based on a desire to study various religions objectively. If you can't help in an objective and respectful manner…then p1ss off ;)

I've been studying religions and am building my collection of texts to do it well. I've hit a snag in my research for appropriate texts in some places though and could use some help. Here are the books I have as well as problems with finding more:

-For Christianity I decided to on the NASB (which I like better so far translation-wise) and the KJB and will study various denominations based on those versions of the Bible (using the KJB as a reference to specific denominations).
-For Islam I decided on both the Saheeh International and Pickthall translations of the Qur'an and have liked both although some say that there are different translations that I should read after I have a general understanding of Islam - I'm just not sure which translations those are lol.
-For Hinduism I got a translation of the Upanishads by Easwaran Eknath and like it so far although I haven't gotten far, but I'm a bit overwhelmed by the books available for The Vedas. Of course I'll have to get them separately and probably in kindle version because it seems that each Veda costs between $30 and $50. But I can't seem to find a single recommended translation for the Rig Veda or any of the other three, and while looking for books, I can't really tell which books are actual translations of the vedas or just books ABOUT the vedas like guides and a single person's interpretation and whatnot. I want translations that will allow me to interpret the context on my own.
And if anyone can recommend a good translation for the Mahabharata, I'd really appreciate it!
- For Buddhism it seems like I need about 40 different books lol to cover all three pitakas. Again, not sure which of the books I'm seeing are actually a volume of a specific pitaka or another guide or "manual" for a specific pitaka. I want to read what was actually carved in stone by the First Council, not someone else's interpretation of what they took from their studies.
- For Confucianism I have the Chichuang Huang translation and the Slingerland translation of the Analects.

Any recommendations for certain translations of the books mentioned above or additional books associated with the religions mentioned above would be great. Also, any recommendations for significant texts you think I should read that pertain to religions I didn't mention would be welcome as well.

Kindle HD or iPAD3 FOR PERONAL OLD PDFS FILES?

I would like to know which one is better for handling pdf files. I have many pdf from university that I want to transfer and read from my tablet. I also would like the tablet to chat using skype. I am unsure between ipad 3 and kindle fire HD. I want something easy to pass my pdf file without problems of compatibility etc. I have 200 plus files that need available to pass and be able to read from the bus. I dont want a e-reader because i also want the option to use the skipe or use some "basic apps". Any recommendation is appreciated. I dont mind price i just need something that makes the job. Basicaly need something for easy reading, organising pdf files, skype use, linkedin, twitter, and facebook. I am not sure if Kindle HD will do the work for personal pdf and neither sure passing my pdfs to an Ipad will be that easy. Please advise what to buy

Why can't I no longer see his active now info on fb?

Ok so I used to see on my facebook kindle my boyfriend's activity status (whether he is "active now" or "active X hours ago"), he had his chat off for everyone but me and some other people. Now I can no longer see when he was active at all, and I know he logs on because he comments and likes stuff. Now, what determines whether I will have "active now" info next to his name? I have a friend who has her chat off all the time but I still see on my kindle when she was active. What could he have done to prevent me from seeing when he is active?
Added (1). But like I said my friend has her chat turned off for everyone and I still can see when she is active, so it must be something else that he did.

Is the kindle 3 OK for non-note taker?

Hi, I have been using the kindle app on my Win8 tab, and while it is nice, my eyes get tired and its heavy. As such I have been searching for cheap(under $40) kindle to get and found a kindle 3 that fits. My worries: I can get easily distracted and am worried that the keyboard will be in the way and distract me(I am not a notetaker and wont use it often, preferring to buy books online and transfer). For people who have a kindle 3 do you find the keyboard in the way sometimes? Does anything happen if you accidently press buttons on it while reading? Is it to heavy for one hand multiple hour readings? Also, do you feel the screen is uncentered compared to page buttons? How is contrast, especially compared to K4?
I have looked at youtube videos but the people are to busy turning the kindle around from side to side for me to get a good grasp of it in action. Plus there is the whole different lighting per computer screen thing.

I would really appreciate unbiased answers and please don't recommend a Nook. I don't have a B&N anywhere even close to me and already own a lot of kindle books.

Added (1). Some of your answers were helpful, but the rest were answered as if you(cathugger) didn't even read what I wrote. In the title I specifically say NON-NOTE TAKER. The whole point of this question is get info from people with first hand knowledge if they think the Kindle 3 keyboard will get in the way for me since I will most likely never use it. The device that would suit me best is a kindle 4 all the way but I simply cannot afford anything $35+(obviously including paperwhite). :/

Best shipping option for a kindle?

Hey, I have been searching for a kindle 4th generation, and while I have my eye on a couple on ebay, I found some nice deals on craigslist. I live in Humboldt CA and there wasn't anything listed for kindle 4 so I checked out other counties in CA and OR and found some there.
My dilemma: craigslist is usually for locals, but I am going to contact the sellers and ask if they would be willing to ship it to me(I pay ship of course). As such, I would like to know the cheapest, sturdiest/safest, and decently speedy shipping option.
Through my own research, I have read that Priority and First Class are good for small objects(kindle and accessories should be less than 13oz but will make sure to ask seller to weigh on scale at post office).
My concerns for the safety part mostly come from that I have never seen a kindle in person or a shipping package before so I do not know what option(sleeve or box) would fit and protect it best.
I also would really appreciate a step by step process of what to do(packaging, stamping, steps at post office. Include weighing please. , etc) to relay to the seller in case they have never done this before and do not wish to be burdened with the task of figuring it out themselves. I have heard of buying the supplies online, but I believe the best way for this situation is to just do it via post office. I have also tried the postage calculator on usps website but it is confusing to me and I would much prefer someone experienced/knowledgeable about the subject to explain it to me. Also, if things are cheaper done differently at a Ups office than please let me know/tell me about it.

What's a good first time tablet?

I admit it I am a bit slow when it comes to hi tech mod cons but I though what the heck it's time for me to have a tablet seen that even my 2 daughters (5 and 7) used them at school…

Kindle help internet what does it mean if the internet goes on and off?

Hi i got a kindle touch in 2013 and i only been on it about 5 time in the last year but now that i dinged it back out i want to go on it but when i connect to the internet it goes on then it goes off is that meant to happen to a kindle? Then i put the password in and nothing comes up so I'm sitting waiting for the internet to come on but its not but i turned the internet off from the wall. But i get it for about 2 minters then it goes off my kindle but it worked on other internets in the past is there anything wrong with the kindle or is it the internet thats playing it up. I've been wanting to order a Kindle Paperwhite 3G from Amazon for quite some time, but I keep entering my address and this message shows up:

Kindle e-reader batter charge issue?

Hi, I have a kindle e-reader that is several years old. I have not used it much, but it worked fine the last time I did (over the summer). The battery needs to be charged and I have an icon on the screen that shows I need to plug the usb into power. When I do, the amber light comes on as it would if it were charging, but the icon does not change. As I recall, the icon should change to a battery with the charge symbol across it.

Any ideas what could be wrong? I have tried plugging into a couple of computers and outlet and tried 3 different power cords. Thanks.

My Kindle Fire HD's keyboard is not really working. How do I fix it?

Whenever I'm texting someone, or in a search bar, or basically any other place that requires a keyboard; it lets me type 1 letter and then the whole keyboard disappeares. It won't come back until I tap on the text bar multiple times. Even then it usually won't work.

I don't get what's wrong with me?

lately I've been having headaches and have been ALOT more irritable to things from listening to music to the sound of a cough or door closing. The thought of getting out of bed in the morning makes me sad. I'm 15 and I feel like i'm 40. I hate going to school really bad this semester. Last semester I didn't care about schoolwork or anything I just…did it because I had friends in all my classes and we would sometimes ditch or just laugh in class. The school day would come and go in a flash but now I don't have any classes with anyone and the school just seems to drag on forever and ever which isn't good because I can barely get out of bed in the morning and i'm a sophomore and don't want to go to college anymore. College was all i'd used to dream about and finding love (i'm gay) and I wanted to be a writer. I have stories in my head about the MC finding love and having best friends and etc.until I realized I don't have any of that and the characters I created have a better life than me. I'm jealous of characters that I CREATED! How sad and just so so very stupid is that?! And also last semester I would read and finish a book in like four days tops. I would read from sunrise in the classroom till' midnight in my room but now I can barely concentrate and I got a kindle for Christmas that, what do you know, gives me headaches and I HATE reading ebooks anyway. Another thing that really gets me P'O'! I don't even think i'm going to school Monday. I stayed in bed Thursday, Friday and i'm STILL tired and dread going the next day. I don't know what's happening to me. I don't want to be a writer anymore or college I just want to stay in bed FOREVER with my curtains drawn. I hate school anyway, this semester more than I ever have and that's saying something. I don't want 4 more years of school after I JUST finished 4 years of crappy, learning the same thing, gross cafeteria food! I don't know what I want to do with my life anymore. I used to have such a bright outlook on the future but now my own SUPPOSED loving family all huddle together and talk about how happy a kid I USED to be! And that i'm just mean, and grouchy and hateful now…yeah that's what a complex minded teenager wants to hear…I haven't had any REAL food in like weeks. It's fast food or nothing lately. My mother just sits in the living room sleep or complaining and blaiming me for everything. Fathers out of the picture since I was an embryo. I ran away once and she didn't even notice. I was gone for two hours! When i'm not at home alone (which is almost always) i'm at school I want to be homescooled in the fall or online school (my mother works from 5am to 2:30pm and doesn't get home till' after 3 so pretty much the same time i'm at school) I wanted to be homeschooled 6 months ago when the school year started but she said it was to late (which I think she lied) and asked again a month ago and she again told me to stop bothering her about it… I can't talk to her about being depressed or lonely she'll just call me crazy and try to get me locked up in an insane asylum (which is exactly what she wants) because she already thinks i'm crazy. I have no one no REAL friends, boyfriend, or family who cares and I have a pretty big family they've just decided to vote me off the island and i'm at my limit and I don't know what to do and I feel like my heads about to EXPLODE! I didn't always used to be so…challenged. I also can't sleep at night.
