Should I update my Kindle?

I have an older kindle that requires the case with the light on it as the screen is too dull. I want to upgrade to the paperwhite which is £100. My Kindle looks really outdated and the buttons are hard to press in the case, as well as the dullness of the screen

Should I buy the Kindle paperwhite? Thanks

My Kindle Fire HD has a zigzag on the battery?

It said something about being connected to a low power charger, I got a charger off ebay, it said it was a kindle fire hd charger. It worked fine for ages but now its not working properly. And It takes It has been on charge now for 5hours and it's only got 48% battery… :/

Why does it have the zigzag? :P

I took a unintentional nap. How to i fall asleep now?

I might have just experienced one of the weirdest things with my body. I layed down around 4:30 ish and watched some stuff on my Kindle. I started getting sleepy at one point and decided to take a nap. I was asleep by 5 easily. The weird thing is I didn't feel tired at all until I layed down. So anyways, I woke up. At 11:03! Yeah at night. These 6 and a half hours! A nap is not that long! I didn't know my body could sleep that long, nap wise. I wasn't even that tired! What happened! So I've lost my Friday night and on top of it my whole family is asleep and I feel refreshed and fantastic. Why did my body sleep so long did it think it was night time? More importantly how do I go to sleep now?! Please help.

Kindle Fire: Just got notified that I have a virus?!

FYI, I'm not on the computer (Kindle Fire) and this tablet has never been updated, if that's important to know.

So most of the time, there's a website called "mangahere.com" where I read scanned pages of manga. I was just about to read one when a pop-up showed up saying that my tablet caught a virus!

I'm a little scared for my Kindle. What's the safest way to remove a virus from the Kindle Fire? And no, I won't reset to factory settings JUST YET! Is there any app that's safe and trustworthy and can remove, not just scan? Thanks!

College Tablet and E-Reader?

I am thinking of getting Tablet or E-Reader for college books next semester. I was looking at Kindle (basic one), but I spotted a Samsung Tablet that is about 15 dollars more. I am pretty sure that basic kindle can only get books from one place while that Tablet can get an Kindle app, plus other providers. The reason i am asking this question because my I pad cant use kindle app because the IOS doesn't reach required one (1st gen I Pad, cant go past IOS5). I already have a good tablet that I use on notes (Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1) so new tablet would of been only for reading, How long would a 2013 model Samsung Tablet (any) be capable of using the reading apps without updates screwing it over?

I do not want to pay much for Tablet that I will only use for school books, I already dropped close to $600 on school tablet first week of last semester.

Am I the only one that gets annoyed by the stock of books college requires, I even had to get books that school store does not posses… Kindle app on my note app didn't have it either and i was forced to get it from some weird Samsung app… Trust me when I say it, it is not fun reading book and taking notes at the same time on a single Tablet screen…

How to re-approach a woman I like?

Over the last several years I've gotten to know a woman working at a men's clothing store. We've always hit it off, and she dropped several hints along the way of her interest.

I've just now become un-attached and then asked for her number and we talked about getting together for lunch. Long story short, I kinda botched the invitation… Too eager, etc. So we didn't end up getting together, and I think it's best to lay low for awhile.

So, how best to re-kindle this thing? If I avoid her altogether I may never see her again as we don't have other opportunities to see one another. On the other hand I don't think it's a good idea to try to force anything now… It'll just look like I'm stalking her. So, how should I go about it? How long should I wait to contact her, and how - in person, text?

I've already put in my name, date and copyright, but is it really enough? Another thing is that when you send your work off to be proofread before you publish, what's to stop somebody from stealing your work and putting their name in it and publishing before you can? How to remove a book from the kindle app in your windows pc?

For certain books, I am not able to delete the book from the library. When I use the right click option it shows a different right click window with no option of "remove from device". The only option seems to be relevant is "remove from collection" which is displayed but disabled. Although this is not the case for all the books. I tried figure out the reason and found that those books were archived. But again, I could not delete them even from the archives? How to delete/remove it permanently?

How to switch off Kindle paperwhite without the graphics?

1. I got the most recent kindle paperwhite model and wondering how to switch it off completely without the graphical display. Because, each time i switch it off (using the bottom key/switch) a different graphic is displayed. Is there any change in the setting required to power it on/off?

2. I'm using a cover case for the same. When I close it, it goes off, but again with a different graphic display. (wondering how closing the case could switch off/on the device as the switch off/on as the key is at the bottom of the device that has nothing to do with the case)

most importantly, once we meet up after the Cool down Period, I was going to apologize and admit my faults so if she ever does love me again, she will see I admitted my faults and witness the change.

Advice for aspiring writer with a short story?

In short I have a ~50 page short story that I'm currently editing. I plan to have a ~150 page novel completed within the year as well. I'm also planning on using Amazon Kindle's Self Publishing program (70% royalty) however I would appreciate any advice as to how I can get my work out there and just how I can go about making a living off my writing. I'm currently 20, enrolled in college, and want to move straight into a career in writing. I've heard it's not the easiest of professions to start out in but I've accepted that and am going to work my *** off to succeed at it. What if I sat on my Kindle?

Hi, I have a Kindle Fire HD which I just sat on. The device is working fine, and I sat on it for one second or so and I am 95 pounds. There are no cracks or damage, but does this mean there is invisible damage? Does this mean that the slightest bump will cause everything to get destroyed on the screen the next time it happens? Thank you!

Okay, I get for various reasons the Kindle tablets are specific. I would like to know what newer android os tablets are comparable to the Kindle fire Hd 8.9" in terms of the main features, 2nd comes price to match the right tablet suggestions, as this is what made this 8.9" a great buy along with some of the Amazon only accessible features. That said, I want and need a different tablet that is strictly just android based with no other company dictating what I can and cannot download.

Should I trade my Nexus 7 for Kindle Fire HDX 7' new?

Well, the Kindle Fire HDX 7 is TWICE as fast than the Nexus 7. It has Adreno 330 and a Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor of 2260 MHz, Krait 400. The thing is, I heard its OS is terrible.
If I return my new Nexus 7 (which I bought 2 days ago) and change it for the Kindle Fire HDX, I will get 30 dollars back (because the HDX is on sale). So should I trade it, aside from the Fire OS being "bad" and having less apps?

What is the moral of this Chinese folktale?

I have read this numerous times and I still don't understand the lesson I'm suppose to learn from it.
The title is 'The Cave of the Beasts'

Once upon a time there was a family in which there were seven daughters. One day when the father went out to gather wood, he found seven wild duck eggs. He brought them home, but did not think of giving any to his children, intending to eat them himself, with his wife. In the evening the oldest daughter woke up, and asked her mother what she was cooking. The mother said: "I am cooking wild duck eggs. I will give you one, but you must not let your sisters know." And so she gave her one. Then the second daughter woke up, and asked her mother what she was cooking. She said: "Wild duck eggs. If you will not tell your sisters, I'll give you one." And so it went. At last the daughters had eaten all the eggs, and there were none left.

In the morning the father was very angry with the children, and said: "Who wants to go along to grandmother?" But he intended to lead the children into the mountains, and let the wolves devour them there. The older daughters suspected this, and said: "We are not going along!" But the two younger ones said: "We will go with you." And so they drove off with their father. After they had driven a good ways, they asked: "Will we soon get to grandmother's house?" "Right away," said their father. And when they had reached the mountains he told them: "Wait here. I will drive into the village ahead of you, and tell grandmother that you are coming." And then he drove off with the donkey-cart. They waited and waited, but their father did not come. At last they decided that their father would not come back to fetch them, and that he had left them alone in the mountains. So they went further and further into the hills seeking a shelter for the night. Then they spied a great stone. This they selected for a pillow, and rolled it over to the place where they were going to lie down to sleep. And then they saw that the stone was the door to a cave. There was a light in the cave, and they went into it. The light they had seen came from the many precious stones and jewels of every sort in the cave, which belonged to a wolf and a fox. They had a number of jars of precious stones and pearls that shone by night. The girls said: "What a lovely cave this is! We will lie right down and go to bed." For there stood two golden beds with gold-embroidered covers. So they lay down and fell asleep. During the night the wolf and fox came home. And the wolf said: "I smell human flesh!" But the fox replied: "Oh, nonsense! There are no human beings who can enter our cave. We lock it up too well for that." The wolf said: "Very well, then let us lie down in our beds and sleep." But the fox answered: "Let us curl up in the kettles on the hearth. They still hold a little warmth from the fire." The one kettle was of gold and the other of silver, and they curled up in them.

When the girls rose early in the morning, they saw the wolf and the fox lying there, and were much frightened. And they put the covers on the kettles and heaped a number of big stones on them, so that the wolf and the fox could not get out again. Then they made a fire. The wolf and the fox said: "Oh, how nice and warm it is this morning! How does that happen?" But at length it grew too hot for them. Then they noticed that the two girls had kindled a fire and they cried: "Let us out! We will give you lots of precious stones, and lots of gold, and will do you no harm!" But the girls would not listen to them, and kept on making a bigger fire. So that was the end of the wolf and the fox in the kettles.

Then the girls lived happily for a number of days in the cave. But their father was seized with a longing for his daughters, and he went into the mountains to look for them. And he sat right down on the stone in front of the cave to rest, and tapped his pipe against it to empty the ashes. Then the girls within called out: "Who is knocking at our door?" And the father said: "Are those not my daughters' voices?" While the daughters replied: "Is that not our father's voice?" Then they pushed aside the stone and saw that it was their father, and their father was glad to see them once more. He was much surprised to think that they should have chanced on this cave full of precious stones, and they told him the whole story. Then their father fetched people to help him carry home the jewels. And when they got home, his wife wondered where he had obtained all these treasures. So the father and daughters told her everything, and they became a very wealthy family, and lived happily to the end of their days.

1095 or D2 steel for a knife?

I am looking to buy a ka-bar USMC knife, but I heard D2 is pretty brittle. I would be using the knife for camping stuff, like whittling, cutting rope, splitting small kindling etc. I don't mind spending hours sharpening D2, but does its edge holding ability let it rival tougher 1095 for a general duty knife?
