Why won't the kindle store connect to the internet?
My kindle fire is connected to the Internet and I can go on the web as I am doing now but when I go into the store and try to click on something, when the page changes it says I am not connected to wifi. Also, my friend loaned me a Kindle book and I accepted it and it said the book was sent to my Kindle but it is not on here. I am guessing the two problems are related. Anyone know of a solution?

I use Windows OneNote very frequently on my iPod and laptop.As I am currently considering buying a tablet, I wondered which devices the OneNote app can be used on. I was looking primarily at the Kindle Fire/Kindle Fire HD, but am also aware of other tablets including Google Nexus.

Amazon prime online limit reached?
Okay, so yesterday we bought an Amazon Kindle HD, and when we set it up, it said we get a free one month membership of Amazon Prime.So I went to the ebook store and I downloaded Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone for my little brother. But then I went to download another book and it said that my monthly limit was reached. I then proceeded to delete the book and download another and it said the same thing.Is this just because it is a free trial or does the membership that you pay for do the same thing? It the membership only allows you to get one book a month then it's not worth buying. Thanks for the help!

Ok so My kindle was stolen yesterday and ive tried searching people at school and i know who took it but they keep giving it to other people to cover for him! How to download books from my Kindle Cloud to my Kindle?
I've had my Kindle for about a year and I still have no idea how to get it to work. First off, there was no instructions with the thing and after I set everything up on my amazon account by using a gift card for Kindle, it says the books I've downloaded are going to a "cloud" but for a long time I couldn't find them and when I finally did it still wasn't showing me how I could get the book from my computer to my Kindle.As for the Kindle itself, it's saying that I'm not signed up to Amazon when I know for a fact that I registered my account on the Kindle itself. I'm about ready to throw this thing out my car window at 70mph if someone don't help me with this stupid thing soon. Thanks

Tabeo, Kindle fire, or Leap Pad?
Tryiing to decide what to get my 5 y/o for xmas. I got the tabeo today, but I may return it.It is so new and the reviews are not very good. I love the leap pad, but batteries seem expensive. I think he may grow out of the leap pad soon, but that ok because I have a 2 y/o also who could use it later. And then there is the kindle fire… 4 GB for $159… Anyone with expirience?

I just got a midnight purple 3ds today for $175 with 3 games to go with it (The Legend Of Zelda, Pokemon white Version,&MarioKart7) for my upcoming birthday, and I've tried it out and I think its quite boring. I'm having a hard time deciding what tablet to buy… I was thinking a Kindle HD, but I'm not sure! Here's the main things I'd want to use it for:
*watching tv and movies
*reading
*playing games
*internet searches
* a decent camera would be awesome too, but it's not a big deal
I was wanting something with a good screen, so the movies aren't pixel-y but also big enough that I can actually see them well. Probably at least 8 inches… And if it's under or at least close to $300 would be good too!

Yeah I know the Amazon kindle Fire is an amazing tablet with pretty good specs etc, but my concern is that it runs an android OS but with the absence of the PLAYSTORE. Although Amazon has an appstore, does it offer enough app varieties? .. I love my PLAYSTORE apps, and the only thing stopping me form getting the kindle fire, is the "NO PLAYSTORE" ***!!. Would any of you recommend the kindle fire for the sole purpose of extreme app usage? AND please leave the NEXUS 7 out of your answers.

Mobi and audbile.aax simultaneously?
I have a Kindle Touch, and I was wondering if there is a way to play an Audible.aax file while simultaneously reading the.mobi version as well. I know I can play mp3's at the same time, but the.aax files don't show up in the music player library.

Which has a better battery life Ipad mini 4G or Kindle Fire HD 4G?
Amazon does not mention the battery life of the Kindle fire on their website.

What kindle should i buy for a 12 yr old?
I would like it to have the built in wi-fi but I dont want to spend too much. Also, can you surf the internet on them or is it just to read books? Please explain a little about what they do.

I think it is great to be able to store all the books in one device instead of having loads and loads of books that take up space. My Kindle is Broken and I Can't Find The Warranty?
My Kindle Touch is broken so when I tap to go into a book, it doesn't load straight away then comes up with a blank screen. Doing anything else is fine just going into a book to read. Any help?

Everyone in my life is too 'needy'. What to do?
At the moment I feel like everyone wants me to spend heaps of time with them and it's exhausting me, however I seriously don't know what to do!
I broke up with my ex a couple of months back because basically he wanted me to spend every day with him, and when I wanted 'alone time' he would get really upset with me.
My best friend was upset with me because i only caught up with her once every week or so because i was having trouble juggling friends, relationship and personal space.
After I broke up with my ex i started taking up a large amount of activities and re-kindled some old friendships. I started going to the gym every day with one of my other friends (we will call her gym friend), however after 2 weeks I stopped as she didn't have a car and i had to drive her around and i was spending 2 hours a day driving to a gym 10 minutes away from me.
One night my best friend and I hit the drinks a little hard in the city and she went crazy angry at me that i wasn't spending enough time with her… so since than we've spent almost every day together, however today i told her i couldn't hangout with her and shes acting really butt hurt about it.

Mini Ipad, Google Nexus 7, or Kindle Wildfire?
Hi Want to buy my hubby one of the above but am really insure which one is the best. Understand that the Mini Ipad is the dearest.Is it worth spending the extra money or is one of the other two just as good. Any advice would be appreciated.

Kindle Fire charger damage env3 phone battery?
My girlfriends kindle fire charger fits her env3 phone.It charges it but the phone gives her a message saying the the charger isn't for the phone. After about 5 months of using the kindle charger for the phone the battery isn't holding the charge as long as it should… about 70% as long… and about very half hour or so the phone shuts itself off and she has to turn it back on. The phone works fine otherwise.
Could the charger have damaged the battery and getting a new bettery and only using the official charger for that phone solve the issue?

My girlfriend has an env3 phone and found out that her kindle fire charger also works for the phone.It charges the phone but when she plugs it in the phone gives her a message saying the charger is not for that phone. She started using the kindle charger for her phone once in a while out of convenience then after while she left her official phone charger somewhere so she could use it when she's there and she'd use the kindle charger at home. About 95% of the time she uses the kindle charger.
She's been using the kindle charger, almost exclusively, for about 6 months now on a daily basis. About 4 months ago she noticed that the battery wasn't holding it's charge as long as it should, although it wasn't bad. Then and bout a month or so ago the phone started shutting off when the battery still had charge. She turns on the phone and it works for a while then shuts off… maybe an hour or so between shut-offs. She gets about 70% out of the battery's charge she should but she has to keep turning the phone back on about every 30minutes to an hour and it's getting worse.

I need advice regarding my 19-year-old adopted and now homeless son?
My son, "Tom", is voluntarily homeless, living in a shelter, although we have offered to rent an apartment for him. He has Army Resrve duty one weekend a month for which he gets paid about $200 monthly, the only cash he receives. He left our home permanently after a PROBABLE (according to his therapist) manipulative suicide "attempt," due to unrequited love nine months ago. However, before the "attempt", the relationship between him and his dad and me had deteriorated to the point that he said we "were the worst parents ever" and that he cared nothing for us. (Although we are not religious and not overly strict, we have always had rules with consequences if the rules were broken. These rules were nothing we think were unusual -- one example being that he had to be home by 10 p.m. on school nights.) However, he rebelled in an extreme way; we are pacifist agnostics, and he joined a Fundamentalist Christian church and joined the Army Reserves when he was 17. He also, before he left our home, became a vegetarian and refused to eat anything I cooked or even have any meals or share any holidays with us, which hurt me very deeply. Although intelligent -- he scored in the 80th percentile on the ASVAB, the military equivalent of the SAT, he maintained only a high D average in high school. (Although he usually got A's and B's on tests, he refused to do any homework or required projects.) It was only through bribery on our part that he did manage to graduate from high school this past May. After high school, he underwent advanced Army training and earned more than $3, 000 over the summer, although he has blown all of it on electronics (laptops, video games, a Smartphone, a Kindle, etc.) Tom probably earned more than $6, 000 altogether in the past year, but he now has nothing left.
After the supposed suicide attempt, he moved in with friends, for which we paid $150.00 a week for his room and board. We had told him we wanted him to continue to live with us, but he refused. Then, while he was in Virginia for advanced Army training, we started getting calls from bill collectors for Tom's bills to the tune of thousands of dollars. After learning the only reason we were not liable for these bills was because Tom had not been living with us at the time he incurred them (even though he was 18 and legally an adult), we moved without telling him where in order to protect ourselves. (At least in Colorado, it is very difficult to evict people, even non-paying relatives, from one's home.) We also, quite frankly, were worn out from Tom's constant verbal abuse of us, and I was also afraid of him stemming from a time when he physically abused me to the point of leaving bruises when he was 15 and he became angry due to there being no hot dogs in the house.) Anyway, we still communicate through our cellphones and through e-mail, we provide transportation to his Drill location for him, and we give him food "care packages" when he requests them, but no cash. (He said he tried drugs for a few days, and he is also addicted to cigarettes, and we refuse to support these things.)
Anyway, yesterday we took him and one of his homeless friends out to dinner, and they both said that they LIKE being homeless, but he wants us to pay $7, 000 for a nine-month Christian program that includes room and board while training him to be "street minister". (I checked it out, and it does SEEM to be legitimate, BTW.) The main problem with this, though, in our view, is that Tom has a history of getting enthused about things and then quitting them. (The Army being the latest example of this -- he signed up for a six-year Reserve stint and was all gung-ho about it for a year, and now he says he doesn't care about it, although he still does a good job at his Drill weekends and seems proud of the praise he says his sergeants and fellow Reservists give him.) The problem with Tom is that he has never been truly motivated about doing anything for which there is not an immediate benefit (not uncommom with kids, I know, but this has been such a problem for him that it was the main theme of all the parent-teacher conferences I attended.)
So, my question is: Should we pay for the Christian program or not? We CAN afford it, although we are approaching retirement, which we won't be able to afford if we continue to shell out thousands of dollars for our "adult" son; and we also don't want to be enablers for him to continue his rootless, non-productive, and -- in our opinion -- self-destructive lifestyle. On the other hand, though, we do not want to just abandon him or have him think that we are abandoing him. Kindle Frozen Screen: Out of Warranty?
I have tried doing research on this, but all I'm finding are consumer complaints with no resolution, or the same problem being fixed because their kindles were under warranty. This is my second kindle to do this, the first(I received as a gift two years ago and it broke less then a year later) froze while under warranty, so it was replaced. But here I am with a un-readable Kindle 3G and no money to buy a replacement. I rely on my Kindle to keep in contact with my parents and friends when I'm not at home because I don't have any phone service and now that I dont have it things have become a lot more difficult. Does anyone know how I can either fix the Kindle myself in this situation or how I might possibly be able to have it replaced?

Because of this volatile relationship with us, including physical abuse of me when he was 15 (not since) because there were no hot dogs in the house (!) and zero respect of either my husband or me which has been expressed through verbal abuse and insults, my husband and I moved this summer while he was in Virginia and have not let Tom know where we are. So, my question is: Should we pay for the Christian program or not? We CAN afford it, although we are approaching retirement, which we won't be able to afford retirement if we continue to shell out thousands of dollars for our "adult" son; and we also don't want to be enablers for him to continue his rootless, non-productive, and -- in our opinion -- self-destructive lifestyle. On the other hand, though, we do not want to just abandon him or have him think that we are abandoing him. (BTW, we adopted him when he was four, after his single teenage birthmom had neglected him due to her cocaine addiction. This, of course, is the source of much of his confusion and anguish.)
Any advice from any professional or anyone who has gone through something similar with his or her own child would be appreciated.

Well.this is pretty complicated. I'll explain it from the start. Presently I'm 16 btw.
Anyway as a kid I haven't really known whether I was straight or what my orientation was, although I doubt that I was steadfastly hetero. Due to environment and stereotypes I did have crushes on boys, but after I went to a same sex school, I guess I got more open minded and decided I was pansexual or at least bi since I started having crushes on girls (however the girls I liked were not dykes or butches or super femme, they were just normal girls, no extremities) however, I'd still have romantic/sexual attractions towards guys at this point in time.
Later on, something happened which I think left me pretty scarred.Hm, I wouldn't say it was to the extent of being sexually abused but I was kinda manipulated and mindfucked in a certain way. I am not sure if it's due to this but that happened two years ago and now I have an aversion towards guys who try to flirt or make subtle innuendo towards me. Friends are fine, though. I'm not sure why I have this specific claustrophobia of men. I know someone who was raped but she's still straight, and that definitely has more impact than what I experienced.
Apart from that I think it's weird that I get off on yaoi and not so much on yuri although I consider myself more lesbian than any other orientation. Isn't it supposed to be the other way round? Is the Kindle 4 worth its price?
I have constantly been contemplating on whether or not I should purchase the kindle 4 (not the touch screen).As a grade 10 student i think that it would definetely benefit me because it's size is convenient and is easy to carry around, aswell as getting me prepared for the literacy test. What i am concerned about is some of my friend have been saying it isnt worth it.SO MY QUESTION IS, IS THE KINDLE 4 WORTH THE PRICE?

I'm not sure what to do! Help!
So, to start off, there's this guy i met when my brother brought him home to come over one day. They're friends. I'd seen him come over 1-2 times before, but we never talked up until my brother's birthday party, when he formally introduced himself to me. He slept over that day, but i'm awkward around people i dont really know (im shy, i get it from my mom), so i stayed up in my room most of the day, and the next day. The next time he came over was when me and my brother had a half-day for school, so he went out to eat with us. When we got home, i decided to be a bit more social, so i stayed downstairs in the room him and my brother hang out in. We talked, but most of the time we were laughing, either because of something he had said or done. I still was a bit shy, so i didnt reply to him as much as i wanted to. He took (asked for, actually, so he could beat one of my high scores) my kindle fire, and had given me his Ipod in compensation for the time being, When he left, he asked for a hug.So i gave him one. After that day, i saw him at the end of school almost everyday, and before i left to go to my mom's car to go home, he either gave me, or asked for a hug, which i gave him. One day, i think the day after the half-day, he had called my housephone to talk to my brother. I didnt know my brother had already answered the phone, so i picked up to make sure he didnt miss the call. Before realizing my brother already picked up, i had heard his friend say that he liked me, and he also asked why my brother got mad when he told him so. You could say i was pretty confused the rest of that day. After a few days or so, i came to realize that i think i liked him back. The next time he came over (halloween) to trick-or-treat with us, he slept over again. I had my friend over to trick-or-treat with ME. After treating, when me and my friend was outside waiting for my dad to come so we could drop her off, she said it was so obvious he liked me. Everything was "Hey Erin, hey! Erin! Erin!". Once we came back, i stayed downstairs with them until i went to bed (which when i was going upstairs he asked for another hug, which i gave him), and from what i saw that night, i really was obvious he liked me. The thing is, i really like him, and i dont think i can stand being not with him. He hasn't asked me out yet, though. I would tell him i like him, but like i said earlier, i'm way too shy. I could never get the courage to.So, i'm not really sure what to do next. I really want to get together with him, like i said, but i'm too shy to ask myself, and i'm not sure if he's going to ask anytime soon. Any advice? Please and thank you<3

My friend has asked if I would like to buy his iPad 2 off him for £200.It's used but in mint condition. I said I would think about it.

The kindle is £50 cheaper, and I have read specs that say its on a par with the nexus 7 which is good. I have a decent phone (htc one x) so I'm not too bothered about the apps.

Future of Traditional Publishing: Favorable or Unfavorable?
So, in case you haven't heard already, two of the top 6 publishing houses (Random House and Penguin Books) are merging into a super-publisher to contend with Amazon, Google, and other mega digital business giants that are monopolizing the publishing industry.

Many expected Amazon to find the next "Harry Potter/Hunger Games/Twilight" mega-seller which would have further hurt the traditional publishing industry, but that hasn't happened… yet.
Instead, traditional publishers are talking about creating self-publishing niches similar to Amazon's, and coming out with their own computer apps and kindles to compete with Amazon.
But, I'm interested in what you think about the future of the traditional publishing industry. Commercialization offers favorable results for consumers (hey, it means a wider variety of books at more affordable costs to readers, after all), but unfavorable results for the industry workers (authors have less room to negotiate since there are fewer publishers to compete in bidding wars for your book, various house-indents will cease to exist which means hard-to-market stories will be even harder to market without those special niche genres, and editor jobs will be replaced by computer programmers).
So what do you think? Favorable or Unfavorable for you, as a writer and/or reader?

With mergers like this, other companies will have to merge in order to compete, leading to fewer overall publishers. This affects sales. Costs of books decrease b/c they're mass-produced and if they're digitalized costs of kindles and such will also decrease… killing Amazon as a monopoly. Target, Walmart, and Barnes-n-Noble refuse to even sell kindles or kindle-version books that are published through Amazon to boycott it.
But this won't continue when Random House/penguin begins the trend. And if all of these traditional publishers start investing in digital sales, what will that do to traditional book sales, especially when there are no brick-n-mortar book stores left to sell those books? That's what I'm getting at.
Added (2). These companies are merging so that they can cut costs and allocate more money to digital technologies/sales. (since digital sales now dominate all global book sales).
I can see both good and bad coming from this. Easier access to publishers if traditional publishers take over self-publishing, for instance, or decreased author royalties (through Amazon, authors get 90% of royalties, how much will they lose if a traditional publisher takes over?)
Added (3). @Steven: One example is Walmart or Asda. Their discount pricing benefits consumers. This merge is the new discount publisher. All publishers might have to merge to compete, driving book costs down (and author royalties down). On the flipside, lower costs could result in more sales for the author.
Variety will increase with digital sales b/c department stores like Target/Walmart (who are boycotting Amazon), will sell digital books and kindles again if the top publishers take control.
But I agree regarding self publishing. Though, I'd point out that there are always people who buy into gimmicks. Self published authors will take a smaller royalty in exchange for RandomHouse/Penguin's brand name, thinking the brand name will help their sales.

I can see both good and bad coming from this. Easier access to publishers if traditional publishers take over self-publishing, for instance, or decreased author royalties (through Amazon, authors get 90% of royalties, how much will they lose if a traditional publisher takes over?)

All publishers might have to merge to compete, driving book costs down (and author royalties down). On the flipside, lower costs could result in more sales for the author.
Variety will increase with digital sales b/c department stores like Target/Walmart (who are boycotting Amazon), will sell digital books and kindles again if the top publishers take control.
But I agree regarding self publishing. Though, I'd point out that there are always people who buy into gimmicks. Self published authors will take a smaller royalty in exchange for RandomHouse/Penguin's brand name, thinking the brand name will help their sales.

I have to pick a certain subject to write about. Would the kindle make a good modern cultural artifact? I was thinking that I could write about how it shows that people from our time use electricity for entertainment. I want to get a smartphone and an ebook reader, and apart from the normal uses I also want to be able to write up documents and then transfer them onto a computer. Which tablet would you buy for young kids?
My kids, ages 4 &7, both love ipads, ipods etc. They play games educational and otherwise, watch netflix and read. I do NOT want to pay for their own ipad because it is just too expensive. I found a nabi 2 which is a tablet designed for kids, but then I was looking at the kindle fire. I have a kindle, so I would already have all the apps for them and parental controls. I am not so concerned with breakage, bc I would buy a warranty.so, it comes down to this question… would the Kindle be just as easy to use as the ipad for a kid, or not? The nabi2 is $199.00 plus $50 warranty; the Kindle is $159 plus $50/2 yr warranty.
These are Christmas gifts… please tell me if your kids use your kindles and how well they can navigate them…

What Are Some Good English Literature Books For AP 12?
I'm in Grade 12 AP (advanced placement) English and we need to chose a novel to read for next week. I just finished The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, which was okay, but it didn't really capture my interest where I was reading for hours on end which I do with some books. Also, I was not a fan of the ending. I like happy endings when it comes to romance.

I currently own an iPhone 4S in which has a great App Store And can run plenty of multimedia apps such as sky go, bbc iplayer etc. I was thinking of getting a kindle fire for Christmas is it worth having as well as my iPhone? I'm not sure how good it is but it looks really good. I enjoy a good book and watching films as well if that helps.

Why will my wireless connection not work at home?
My router is a Zoom Series 1092 Model 5350.It connects just fine through Ethernet connection but won't work wirelessly. I know it is not the devices trying to connect because I have a laptop and a kindle and neither will connect. They both find the network and say excellent signal but when trying to connect an error displays. I have tried turning off the router and turning it back on, I have tried resetting the router, and restarting the devices trying to connect. Any ideas of what could be wrong? It does this every once in a while but usually starts working again within a few minutes.It's been like this now for 3 days straight.

Kindle Fire HD or Ipad mini?
I'm in the UK and aged 15 years old. I was planning to contribute £60 ($95) to getting a Kindle Fire HD 7" for Christmas. However with the Ipad minis release I'm not so sure anymore, if I were to get it then I'd have to contribute a total of £170 ($272) which is obviously a lot more. I can afford that much but it would mean that after I had bought presents for everyone else I'd have under £30 in saving.Is it worth getting the ipad mini or should I stick with the kindle fire hd. I've been using Photoshop for a while now, and since I have a laptop, the experience has been less than stellar. The mouse trackpad just doesn't get the job done--I always end up making edges jagged when lasso-ing and such.
A touchpad fixes that problem. A stylus gives you far more control (way more than, say, a USB mouse could). I really don't want to purchase one, so I want to use my Kindle Fire. Any way to do this?
