Windows 8 apps won't connect to internet?

so I got a windows 8 Acer laptop for school and I have never used windows 8 before so I am already confused. And on top of that the apps that I have downloaded (Amazon, Kindle, etc.) won't connect to the internet. I've tried almost everything and am extremely confused.

If I go on the desktop I can connect to the internet just fine but for some reason my apps are freaking out.

If anyone has any ideas on how to help me I would greatly appreciate it.

When I tried to click the Kindle Edition, it first told me there was no Kindle Reading App on my Touch Screen laptop (1) I'm not sure if I should call my laptop tablet (laptop) when the monitor part is not detachable from the keyboard part (not a Detachable 2-in-1 Touchscreen Laptop), should I?), and that I should download the free Kindle Reading App from the Amazon. There are many kinds of free Kindle Reading Apps. I downloaded Kindle for PC, but PC doesn't necessarily imply it is a laptop with touchscreen. 2) Is it the right app for my touchscreen laptop? If I see there is an app like Kindle for Tablet, can it be used for my touchscreen laptop? 3) If something is called like Kindle for iPad, iPhone, can the app be used for my touchscreen laptop? I tried to read eText with the Kindle for PC, but it didn't have response when I used my finger to move the page. 4) Also, I see some eTexts are read online, but can some eTexts be read offline? 5) Can some eText be saved into a flash drive?
6) And what is the electronic copy of the textbook called when it can be saved into a flash drive?
7) where can I find the electronic copies that can be saved?

8) Can the Kindle Edition got from Amazon.com via the limited-time free access be saved into flash drive? How?

My right eye and part of the right side of my face hurts?

For some reason, I woke up today and the right side of my face felt swollen, kinda like I got punched in the eye. Most of the pain surrounds the eye, though when I look at it, it seems practically normal. However, the skin between the bridge of my nose and the corner of my the inner part of my eye is slightly swollen and red; it also really hurts when I touch it. When my face is relaxed, I feel a slight pull/tingling feeling around the area of my cheekbone thats a little uncomfortable. But when I scrunch up my face or blink longer than the usual second, the area surrounding my eye and cheekbone hurt like CRAZYY. The pain has also been gradually getting worse throughout the say. I dont know whats wrong since its only on one side of the face and this has never happened before. It might be because Im sick (though I am almost done recovering) or because lately Ive been reading my kindle under the covers at night while laying on my right side.
Any advice would be great since I have really important tests next week! (and sorry for the long paragraph LOL)

Kindle fire wont open apps or connect to wifi?

I bought a kindle fire refurbished for $100 for my son for christmas. After a few weeks it wouldn't charge anymore and I took it into a shop that replaced the charger port and now that I have it back it wont open any of the apps or recognize my wifi. I can't do anything on it actually when I open any of the settings and try to change them it wont let me. I am into this thing for $165 dollars now…does anybody have any ideas?

Is 50down 15up connection an acceptable speed for my case?

My family is mostly going to stream shows online from the internet. So one is going to be streaming tv and playing kindle, while the other is doing the same, but is also most likely downloading as well. While they both do that, I expect to be able to play video games online with a solid, clean, and stable connection. Do you think that this is enough bandwidth for them (and also me), or do we possibly need more speed?

My WiFi won't authenticate?

My computer works just fine but none of my other devices (iPod, Kindle, Laptop) will connect to the internet. I've reset the router and tried turning everything off but nothing seems to do the trick. I noticed that when I try to connect to the WiFi from my Kindle, it just says something like "Authentication error". How can I fix this problem? It's really frustrating!

What size pack needed to backpack for 1 yr?

I'm traveling to Europe, and plan on backpacking/ camping during my excursion. I know i must need a visa for certain countries, and have to camp in appropriate spots, or just concealed spots.

I originally planned on taking a 45L pack, along with a small lightweight tent, sleeping bag, bivy sack, iso mat. Three pairs of clothing ; 3 quick dry underwear, long sleeve shirts, extra socks (gotta keep the feet dry), towel, small fleece. Electrionics, camera w/ charger, macbook air laptop w/ charger, kindle w/ charger( instead of many books), small notebook. obviously there are things i will not take, basics rule is pack more, then take out half.

I wanted to pack light, around 38L, but i have a feeling ill be doing this for years to come so i upped the pack size to around a 50L, which i think is acceptable. I was in the Marine Corps so i am used to hiking with a crap ton of weight on my back while wearing a lot more gear than i plan on wearing on my journey. Also i plan on having 6,500 US dollars, mainly trying to take advantage of the currency differences.

Any advice on pack size, length of trip. etc? Any and all comments appreciated. even the ones telling me I'm a hungry hippo that needs to loose weight.

Advice on publishing an eBook?

I have a Romance novel that I would like to publish as an eBook. I have searched the internet, and even though there are a lot of options, I don't know how to go about choosing.I really like "Smashwords", but it is American, and I would have to go through the whole filling out some kind of form due to IRS or something, not to mention I have no idea how to go about getting my work copyrighted internationally. I understand it is automatic in Australia.

Has anyone got any advice on any Australian eBook publishers, whether or not they provide copyright, and do they get the book on major retailers such as Amazon, Kindle etc?

How to borrow books on Kindle?

I got a Kindle Paperwhite for Christmas and I'm enjoying it so far; but I've been using libraries forever because I can't afford to pay for every single book I read, regardless of how inexpensive they are. Amazon has the option to borrow, but it's $80 per year, and they don't have newer books that I want to read. I could wait for the books to get older, but that defeats the point!
I've checked Overdrive and Booklending, and they do have thousands of titles, just none I would want to read. Is there ANYTHING else I can do to borrow a book for this kindle? If there's no other alternative than to buy it, I'm taking it back.
