How to open old ebooks in windows 8.1?

I have an ebook that I bought on Amazon a few years ago that is the textbook for one of the classes that I'm taking this semester. I downloaded it onto my laptop from the kindle app but the book wont open. Is says that it's not compatible with 8.1… Is there a way to bet around this? A way to update the ebook or a program that I can run it through?

So. Anyone have any ideas?

So apparently me from 3 years ago decided to upload two stories that I'd written to Amazon Kindle, and they're currently listed at 99 cents and $2.99. I thought that I could just log in and delete these books, but apparently I had uploaded these books on a separate account? Because the account that I logged into had my nickname put in, and the books were not listed anywhere on my account. So, the account with the books has my full name, and that's all I know. I don't know the associated email, password, nothing. But these two stories are on Amazon US, Amazon UK, Amazon Japan, Amazon Indonesia and Amazon Australia. Help?

I was fooled by a liar into trading a new kindle fire for a piece of trash… What can I do?

I had a new Kindle Fire gifted to me and decided I would prefer an Android tablet instead. I got onto a community group selling page and saw a guy selling one. We had a small conversation before he met me at a local store so we could check out each others items. His tablet was not charged so I could not see if it was what I wanted. This is where I got stupid. Although I had a gut feeling that it was a bad idea I decided to go ahead and do a trial period trade, which we discussed and both agreed to. I would take his, and he would take mine, but only until I made sure it was what I wanted, otherwise we would meet that evening and exchange back. He gave me his phone number and assured me that if I was unhappy I would get my kindle fire back. I got home and of course, it didnt turn on. I called him and said I wanted to meet to get it back which agreed to do after he got off of work. (BTW he gave me a fake number but I still found him.) You can probably figure out the rest. He lied and evaded and lied some more. I did some snooping and found out where he lives and where he works, but I don't know what to do. I am a 5'6, 115 lb girl and I am just so mad that he took advantage of me that I can hardly breathe. I know what I did was stupid. But we made a verbal contract and he did not follow through, he basically robbed me. Is there anything I can do? If I call the police will they do anything? Any advice would be great. And I already know how dumb I am so no need to point it out. Thanks.

I am having trouble downloading a kindle book to my android tablet?

This is the error message I get:

"You have selected content that is not compatible with any of your registered devices. Please remove incompatible content from selection for eligible devices to appear."

It doesn't even let me select a device to use. I am confused. Can anyone help?

My cousins mom and dad went on vacation, hes staying with me and my family. So basically, (hes 8, I'm 14) He'll get into all my stuff, I bought a super expensive air conditioner for my room, (400$, and I'm 14 so that money meant alot) and he throws a baseball at it and cracks it. I had a nice mountain bike, I BOUGHT, and he goes out and drives it around runs into my moms car and cracks the running board, and makes the chain get messed up, so we got a new one and fixed it, and he broke it AGAIN. He was spinning around in my computer chair and kicked my dogs leg while he was spinning, and my dog is limping, and he tipped the chair over backwards and cracked my computer screen, and he keeps going on these random sights on my kindle, he opened my old laptop bag and was taking the chargers and cords out and stuff.
