Which Kindle is the best one to purchase?

I'm getting one as a Christmas gift for my mom and I was thinking doing the Kindle Fire HD so she can read all her stuff and use Hulu Plus. Now the Hulu Plus feature is why I'm mainly getting it but my mom is more of reader than tv watcher. But I know she'll rather use it to watch stuff cause she one of those people who prefer the actual book than reading it on a screen

Anyways, I just wanted some insight from anyone who has a kindle. Pros and cons of any of them and what you recommend or I guess not recommend!

I've tried to read manga on my kindle4 but there is always a white border around the pages and I can't read the baloons properly (text is too thiny). How to know if my writing is any good?

I had my first book published when I was 10 years old, but that was 5 years ago, and even though I've completed six books since then (2 novella's and 4 novels), I am only interested in publishing the last three novels. They are books in a fantasy trilogy (Which I have now completed) and the three of them add up to about 410-thousand words. I am now investigating Kindle ebook publishing with Amazon, but I'm not sure how to find out if my writing is good enough for me to make actual sales on Amazon. I was planning to sell each book for $3.99, but I want to make it at least worth the readers money. Are there any sites that review unpublished novels or something like that? I thought of putting a chapter or two on Wattpad or FictionPress, but I'm afraid that someone might steal my ideas. Can anyone help me?

Amazon's Kindle Reads only books bought in Amazon?

I'm thinking of buying amazon's kindle, but im my country (Chavezland/Venezuela) we only get 200 dollars per year, and we might no get it every year, so is possible that if i buy it, i won't be able to buy many books from amazon, so im going to have to go pirate (here nobody cares for that, there's piracy everywhere and it's unpunished) and download'em .pdf, i'm only gonna use it for my university in the topics of my assignments.

I notice a lot of the users here talk about headphones a lot. I never thought headphones were really a big deal to people unless they were involved in making music. I just can't think of too many situations in life where headphones are required. When do you guys use headphones and why?
For example, at home, I listen to music on my computer or kindle or play it out loud from my phone.In the car, obviously I listen to music in the car. When I'm hanging out at someone's house or at an event or party, obviously I'm not trying to listen to music from a personal player. And when I'm at the gym, usually there's nobody around me and I play music from my kindle or use headphones.So the only times I can even think of are in the gym or on an airplane or maybe a bus, but those situations are so rare.

Of course, thats just a scam to get you to spend more money on your kindle- but wondering if theres a way to get the audiobooks to show up on my kindle (already tried copying them to my audiobooks folder on my kindle but they don't show up.

I've recently initiated my first foray into online entrepreneurship, and am not sure if my activities constitute a "business" or just… private dealings, if that makes sense.So here's the deal:

I've created a new guide book brand, and recently published the first ebook for Kindle and other ereaders. I'm only dealing in EBooks. And I've found more writers to write guides under the same brand. They write the books, I manage them and publish them online, giving the writers a majority of the net profits from Amazon and the other sites.So… is this a business? Am I breaking any laws by doing this? Even if I'm not, I figure taxes will eat away at my earnings, if I'm paying the the taxes on 100 percent of the royalties, but only keeping a small porting of that for myself. But as a private individual, I can't hire 1099 contractors, can I? Can a private person register a trademark?

I'm doing my own research on this, but am a little lost and need some initial guidance. BTW, I do already have a thorough contract written up laying out the terms.

Hi all! My brother is getting a Kindle Fire for Christmas-the standard one, not HD, $159- and I wanted to get him a case for it as my gift. The problem is he likes the feel of the device and isn't a big fan of cases. His iPod touch has a case only because he was told he had to have one on there.It is a nearly transparent white rubber kind of deal, and is thin enough for him to accept but thick enough to protect it if it falls. By way of background, I came to the view that a good share of personal mortification and kenosis was needed over the past year after experiencing a fairly grave personal disappointment and realizing that I was none too young any longer. Fine, our selfish illusions always stand in the way of our seeing things as they truly are.It's been a period filled with great self-dissatisfaction, ambivalence about the path in which I'm being led, and the persistent question as to whether I even have the right to an opinion about it. This emptiness is perhaps now getting unhealthy, as friends have indicated their concerns that I seem just a bit too dour and deterministic.

And they're right. A good self-examination shows that I'm rather unhappy. Somewhere within, there's a rather deep longing going unfulfilled, and it's not a very intellectual thing to gauge what it is, but this pesky intellect just seems to be getting in the way. Clear it out enough to determine it--to truly feel it, that is to say, as I already have some suspicions as to what it is--do I just detach from it to live the way I've been living, or see it is the reason that I've been detaching from so much and let it carry me along? Is this the fire of the Holy Spirit, welling up in the hearts of His faithful to answer the prayers offered to the Father? Then, mortification of that would be grievous, a sin of ignorance, a blight on our holiness. There's nothing holy about a frustrated ascetic. The prayer moving me daily now is:

So I want to buy a certain book but I found out that it's just available in a Kindle version on amazon, and I want to buy it but I don't have the Kindle tablet.

Like today, Modern Combat 4 came out tonight on the Google Play store. But I have an Amazon Kindle Fire but the app isn't on the appstore for amazon. Can anyone give me a educated prediction on when this app may come out on Amazon?

Why isn't my Kindle Fire charging?

I plug my Kindle Fire into the charger which is plugged in, and the battery Icon in the top right corner doesn't change to the green charging signal, bot does the light go on. The Battery HD app says it's charging, but I don't think it's correct because the Icon isn't charging. What do I do to fix it? Is it fixable?

How to Delete Sample Books From My Kindle?

I know how to delete full books that I have bought. But, you can get a sample of just the beginning of the book before you buy it to see if you like it. I don't know how to delete the samples as they are hogging up space on my Kindle and it is very annoying.

Download epub to kindle keyboard 3G?

I know that kindles do not support epub's but I was thinking there might be a way to somehow convert the epub to imobi, and then download that file. However, I am seeking a portable solution. (ie.no computer needed)

I have found some useful information. There are many websites which offer online converting and downloading of ebooks, and allow you to enter the download link of the epub, however, there is no LINK copy and pasting on the kindle keyboard so this is probably of no help.

Why won't my kindle fire turn back on?

My mom was using my kindle fire while I was at work. She went to go put it in my room and she push down the power button and a thing came up on the screen asking if you wanted to shut it down well I guess she did and it turned off and she put it on the charger and she noticed it wasn't charging. For some reason you have to have the kindle fire awake for you to be able to change it then you can touch the power button to put it back to sleep.Is there away to turn it back on? It's on the charger as we speak. She told me that it was half full and she was playing angry birds for I say a few hours. Please help, I got this last year after Christmas.
Added (1). I've tried to do a reboot and wouldn't work I even put a rubber band around the power button for 20 minutes( someone said it worked) and that didn't work either. I got my kindle from walmart not from amazon.

I was having a discussion with my boyfriend about how I dislike Amazon/Kindles practice of setting flat charges on their e-books, when I believe that cost for things should depreciate as production costs lower and popularity decreases. He really was fighting it more than usual, claiming that they are charging for their start-up infrastructure costs, and that their business practices were predictable and were the obvious outcome for any business. Essentially charging what people will pay. I disagreed and stated that paperbacks( which are more expensive to produce) costing less is a testament to Amazon's ridiculous price markup. We discussed at opposite ends for about 3 hours of debate.

I accidentally deduced that he was getting me a Kindle for Christmas after looking at a bank statement, and that we had this disagreement about 3 days after he ordered it. He probably was really upset because he prides himself on getting me gifts I love without having to ask what I want. I feel like I hurt his feelings but he didn't show it so he could keep up the Christmas secret. Should I let him know I know so I can apologize, or just wait until Christmas and do it then? I feel like it's going to haunt me because he is really sensitive to these things and we never lie to each other.

Now back-story.
I'm a bit of a bibliophile, meaning I love books. I love reading them, I love the smell, the feel, the perfect moment of reading a good used paperback in the bath. This being said my boyfriend of 5 years doesn't read because he'd rather do something productive with is time. He's also an IT major who approves of complete digitization of books, information, news, and currency. Therefor he doesn't understand the experience of a good paperback novel, nor the fact that I'll never be able to live without them.

I have a Kindle with 3G/Wifi and a keyboard, if this matters.

I frequently borrow Kindle books from my library, and usually download them onto my Kindle using Wifi (occasionally, when the books require it, I manually add them). They expire after 21 days, and now I have dozens and dozens of [Loan ended] notices crowding my Kindle. How can I delete these?
