I've been told they do and I've been told they don't.My understanding is that they only require phone activation if you want to access the internet in places without wifi that you can connect to, if that makes any sense. I ordered one (it has not arrived yet) to use primarily for reading ebooks, since the tablet was less expensive than even the cheapest Kindle I could find. I understand that I will need an internet connection to download my books, but I have a service at home that I can use (I also use it for my iPod).
Would I need a phone activation for this?
