I got a family member a Google Play gift card because I thought that the Kindle Fire was an android device so it must use the Google Play store but now I'm not sure. Does it only use the amazon app store? Or is using Google Play common and possible with current models (she just got hers, I believe it's the newest something like the Kindle Fire HD)?
Added (1). And can it use google play without being rooted? She won't want to do any special downloading or changing around folders.
