How to publish a children s picture book?

Hi, I recently created a children s picture book and put it on Amazon Kindle direct publishing. I was really excited at first, but now I realize my book is way in the back and no one knows it even exists. I did do the free book promotion and it did sell a little. My dream is to get it into a barns and nobel so that it at least has the chance of being discovered. What would be the best next step to do? Should I try to find an agent, should I try a local publisher (even though I m scared it won t lead to much), or should I keep trying to make Kindle direct publishing work? Thank you! :)
