Better to have multiple kindles on same account or seperate?

Have you found that sharing your amazon account with your friend/family member has benefited you or caused issue? I see that MOST books can be synced on up to 6 devices per account. That mean once I finish a book on my kindle, my partner could pick it up for himself at anytime… This SEEMS great, but I'm worried of the types of conflicts I'm not thinking about… How has having multiple users on one account helped or hurt you?

ALSO*** If you are an Amazon Prime user- do you know if you can sync an amazon lending library book onto two kindles at once? Or would that cause conflict?
