What to do with Kindle Fire with cracked screen, but otherwise works perfect?

I have a Kindle Fire 1st Generation. I recently dropped it and now the screen is cracked. It otherwise still functions fine.

As you can guess, it's really annoying to look at it through the cracked screen.

I called Amazon. It's out of warranty, nor would I expect them really to offer to fix it for free, as it was damaged by me, not a manufacturers defect. But sadly, they don't even offer a repair service.

So what to do?
Added (1). Even if it can't be repaired, do you think offering it for sale for parts would net me something?
