Kindle Fire HD problem. Amazon app store not responding?

I clicked on my Amazon app store only to be met with the message 'Amazon app store is not responding.' Even after several tries I get the same response. As a result of this I can't use most of my apps. The message 'You need to be logged in to Amazon app store.' comes up. Also, usually in the top left-hand corner of my screen it displays 'Brittany' s Kindle' which has now been replaced with just 'My Kindle.'

Does anyone have any idea of what is going on and how I can fix it?
