Kindle fire 1st gen will not boot?

Hi I press the power button on my kindle fire. The boot screen comes on for several minutes; then the screen goes black. I can't figure out how to fix it any ideas besides buying a new one?

I'm just finishing up The Host by Stephanie Meyer and I need to pick something to read next. I just put a bunch of new books onto my Kindle and I'd like to read them all eventually, but I'd like some opinions on my new books. Reading books on actual paper.?

Is it bad to read books either through the computer or on my kindle? I find it saves money, and I can easily find supplemental material/discussion pertaining to a book. However, I thought I heard an article say somewhere it's not as good as a reading from paper.

Are there any draw backs on learning related to this? I read read about 60% of my books digital and the rest from physical books.

Unfortunately, virtually all of my information is obtained through the internet.

Youtube does not work on kindle fire hd!

Only very recently have I encountered that when I go to try to play Youtube videos, they won't load anymore. Its not that they cant play, the problem is that youtube wont even give me the the results when I search for a video. And when I go to the main youtube home page, I can see the results but it won't let me select them, even after trying to select multiple times. I have tried a hard restart, clearing cache, cookies, everything else. I even restored my kindle hd to factory default. Wondering how to fix it? Is the problem my kindle, youtube, silk web browser, or something else? Do please help.
