How difficult is it to be able to put the Google Play Store on an Amazon Kindle Fire?

It's been said the fire runs an ANDROID BASED operating system but since it's not android… Can you still use android apps?

My son's 5th generation Kindle Fire 7 is missing Docs Library. How can I get it back?
