Tablets: a tech revolution fail?

I'm at a tech store looking through and I see that there are more brands of tablets than I can keep count of. Thing is I've only seen people using Apple and Blackberry tablets and Kindles.so the question is why did so many tech companies decide to jump into the tablet pool so fast? I mean Apple as you know dominates every company as always.My mom is the only person I know of with a Microsoft tablet and honestly its like using crappy version of an ipad.

I own a kindle fire (not HD just the regular) and I have a crap ton of emulators, and I was wondering if there are any gaming controllers that will work with it since I don't think it has Bluetooth. Is buying a reading tablet worth it?

I have tons of books and magazines on my computer saved as pictures and as PDF files alike.

My computer has this screen orientation thing where I can turn the orientation from landscape to portrait, and I have to flip my laptop on its side in order to view the pages as big as they can get on my screen.So that's one option.

But I think it would be a lot easier if I had a tablet to read them because it's more portable and way less difficult to handle than my clunky laptop on it's side.

I was thinking about getting the 8.9" version of the Kindle fire, since I want a bigger screen and the iPad is too expensive.

Do you think a tablet is better for viewing digital books (with pictures) or do you think I should stick with my laptop? I mean, is the price worth getting over the hassle?

Cover for my Kindle Ebook?

Hey guys,

This is to everyone who has any experience in publishing on Kindle. I have some trouble in actually paying for a designer to design the cover. I managed to make some of my own covers for my ebook however I am worried about the copyright for the pictures that I used. I researched something about Creative Commons and looked up pictures that say "allowed for commercial use"… if I use these certain pictures for my cover, would I be safe and allowed to publish my book worldwide?

What is wrong with my Sims game?

I have The Sims FreePlay game and I play it on my android kindle fire. Just last week I updated it to the most current version and since then I've been having some problems. First, some of my sims would go to work and stay until I cancelled the action. Time was not progressing forward. Then, some of them would sleep all day, instead of just an hour. Now, I'm noticing that my neighbor count is missing. Can this glitch in the game be fixed? Will it resolve itself? I'm pretty far into the game and I don't want to have to restart the whole thing if I don't have to. Thanks for your help! :o)

Kindle Fire won't play Youtube videos?

I've tried everything I could think of. I've powered by Kindle on and off, made sure the Adobe Flash player was on, but the Youtube videos still won't load. After awhile of trying to get then to load, it'll say that the video format is not supported. This has never happened before and I am very frustrated and upset. If someone could help me out as soon as possible I would be sooo thankful. Thanks in advance!

Would you want to read this based on the trailer?

I cut together a trailer for my new book. Its like a preview teaser trailer to try and generate interest. What do you think? Would you want to read it based on this, does that trailer make you hate the idea… any constructive thoughts are really appreciated.

Added (1). Yeah I think the kindle can hold thousands of books on it, so its pretty lean on how much space it takes up, and you can always uninstall it…

… but did you like the trailer, would it entice you to want to read the book. I know it doesn't give much away and that's kind of the point… Its a teaser. Most movie trailers you see now give you like 80% of the plot… to me that doesn't make me want to see the movie. I didn't want to create something that would just summarize the book in 30 seconds.

Final fantasy 3 for Kindle?

I know this is probably a stupid question but I just bought Final Fantasy 3 on my Kindle Fire and I am already frustrated. I'm not sure how the controls work. Example: Early on, you face off with three goblins. I can't figure out how to attack! It lets all 3 enemies strike me first before the battle menu ever pops up, and then I can only select one foe at a time to attack. Then they all get to hit me again before I can access the battle tab again. I can't figure out how to get the battle commands to show up before I am attacked, and I keep getting killed!
I have played Final Fantasy games on other platforms before (PS2, nintendo consoles, etc) and I don't remember it being this difficult just to attack. I think I remember being able to attack multiple enemies at one time, too? There are no instructions included in the game (not that I can find, anyway), and the walkthroughs I'm finding online are no help. I just need some tips on basic gameplay for this particular version! Any help or advice would be most welcome… I was so excited about this game!

Cant watch youtube on kindle fire anymore?

I was watching a video on youtube and then it froze on me like it tends to do but this time after i reset it it told me to pick a browser. Either "silk" or "people". I chose silk knowing it was my browser and when i did i went back to youtube and then entire screen was like how it is on my mac.It did this at times and normally when put in what video i want to watch it switches back to the kindle version. This time it didn't and it says need to download the newest adobe flash player in order to watch. Now i cant watch any videos. If anyone knows how to fix this please let me know.either by giving me a step by step way to fix it or just a shortcut or something in order to get to it. Thanks.

Hi there!

I am going on vacation with my family in 2 weeks exactly. Where can I get a cheap camera? I am going on a cruise to Mexico and want to take photos.

Well I had 180$ but my mom does not believe me. I didn't get cash but my Mom gives me money when I make great plays in softball, good grades, etc. I remember adding all my money together a few weeks ago and getting 130$ and I recently got paid 50$ from my moms boss and yeah.So really she said I can have 150$.

I am giving my dad my my kindle for 30$.Should I ask for 50$? Anyway. I need all the money I can find for vaccation. The cruise will have so many shops/stores on it. Like there is more then fifty, on one deck.

Why does my kindle date say the year is 2036?

My kindle fire HD was working very well, I have had it for a while and never had a problem. All of a sudden I turned on my kindle and it said the date was Feb, 7, 2036.the time stays at 1:05 am and it wont connect to the internet.It used to but suddenly it got all messed up, HELP :(

Why won't it let me re-lend a book on the kindle?

I have a regular Kindle and my sister has a Kindle Fire. I lent her the second book in the hunger games series and it said earlier today it was returned. She said she closed it on her kindle and it no longer says "on loan" on my amazon page… but I tried to re-loan it to her (she isn't done yet) but it's not giving me that option now. Why is that? My brother and I thought of an idea for a book. Since I am the only one that actually LIKES writing, I had to write the whole thing. According to my brother, since he helped make the idea for the story, he should get 50% of the money. I think that this is compleatly unfair since I did all of the hard work. We are self publishing on kindles so that part is organised. I think that he SHOULD get SOME money but not 50%. What do you think? BTW he only came up with the storyline of the 1st chapter of the book. I THOUGHT OF THE REST MYSELF!

How to Get YouTube For kindle Fire HD?

So, I Have A Kindle Fire HD. When you went on the youtube site.you can view all the videos. But, now you can't.it says this video is not available on this device for every video. I got all my favorite youtuber apps like PewDiePie, Smosh, Olga Kay, Jenna Marbles… but the apps take me right to the internet. Which really sucks. And if I go on the sites like 4shares, 1mobile anything like that… I download it and it said Cannot Open File. OR like Panda App, When I try to download youtube… it just crashes. I can't root my kindle either.So I need help. How can I get YouTube and view those videos? Oh and one more thing, I don't like the apps because they just let you view the video and not comment and like or favorite. HELP!!! -L

Finding it hard to read after a long break from reading? - 1

Hi, I've recently started reading the Game of Thrones series (not far in so please no one post spoilers!) on Kindle, and I'm finding it hard to read them.My eyes seem to skip words and not always go to the right line. However, in all honesty I haven't read for my own enjoyment/generally read a lot over the past couple of years. I've just finished my A-levels and I've been doing subjects that haven't required me to read a lot. I suppose that it's been 2 years or so since I really read books for pleasure. I was wondering whether people think that I'm just out of practice at reading, and that if I just persevere I'll get back into the habit. I used to be a very good reader (really not meaning to boast, but in the reading tests at school I used to score a reading age of 16+ from about the age of 11 I think, I'm now 18). I do also understand, however, that I might still need to get used to Martin's style and it may be different reading on a Kindle. There is also one other thing, which is that I recently got new glasses with a different prescription plus I have prism lenses because I'm weird What do people think?

What to take on a two and a half hour flight?

So I am going on a 2 and a half hour flight in 12 days to Portugal, and I wanted to know what I should take in my hand luggage?

OK so all I remember so far is… there was a little girl who is the daughter of a rock star, her father gets her when she is like 6 and she has a fear of the dark and has a teddy bear with her. Her father moves her to England or something like that. Her father and his girlfriend end up having a daughter. Getting French books for Kindle?

I'm considering getting the Kindle paperwhite.
My main concern is whether or not I will be able to buy french books for it as well as english books.
I'm assuming I will have to buy them from the french amazon website.
