Is there any point sending manuscripts to agents anymore?

You get a LOT more money from kindle sales. And if it does well, publishers come begging to you to sign you up.
So, is there any point in sending manuscripts to agents any more? They are redundant.
Publishers can see which self-published books readers actually like reading instead of what idiotic agents 'think' readers want to read.
