How to upload the photos I have on my Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 to my laptop?

I can't figure out what I am doing wrong. I tried what all the websites said to do and I still can't get a single photo to my laptop. Nothing is there after clicking it under the start menu and connected devices. I have the one drive app by Microsoft as suggested by one of the many websites I read. Every picture I take goes to the app automatically.

I know there is something probably painfully simple that I am missing. Please someone help me step by step preferably.
